Make Life Easy and Setup Recovery Information
The smartest thing that you can do to make sure that you never get locked out of your account is to setup Recovery Information for your account.
After logging into your email via a web browser, click on your avatar in the upper right hand part of the page as indicated below. Once the drop-down menu appears, click on the Google Account button.
Once at the Google account page, click on Security at the left side of the page and then complete the Recovery email and Recovery phone parts.You may also want to enable 2-step Verification for extra security.
Now that you've completed this, if at any time in the future you forget your password, you will able to recover it using the recovery phone number or recovery email address (and there will be no need to lose a day or so until we are able to respond to your request).
